Therapy Gardens for All Ages

The Tree House Center in Elkhorn, WI is a safe welcoming place for local agencies to come together and help children and families that have been affected by child abuse. It is run by the non-profit organization the Walworth County Alliance for Children (WCAC) funded by private donations. The Healing Garden was designed to be a peaceful place for the children, families, volunteers, and agency staff at the Tree house to go and take a quiet moment. Winding paths of crushed red granite lead from the entrace to resting spots with stone benches and a water feature and gazebo. Paths were lined with steel edging for long lasting easy maintenance. The water feature is a bubbling stone on a permeable brick patio with underground basin to recirculate water. The soft sound of the water is soothing and children can go right up and put their hands on the rock and feel the water. Planting beds around the garden are filled with long blooming colorful plants, and trees were added for privacy screening and shade. The landscape plan is in the shape of a tree. Gazebo was donated by another, but sited in our landscape design. The gardens will be expanded as donations continue. Stay tuned for more!
